About Mariah
I’m Mariah Fair, affectionately known as Modi. A Creative Director, author, storyteller, and founder of Mariah & Co., my creative consulting house specializing in business consulting, operations strategy, intentional space styling, and curated event planning.
Everything I build is rooted in transformation—of systems, spaces, and the people who move through them.
After earning my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Fisk University, I stepped into leadership early, becoming CEO of my family’s multi-site childcare organization. There, I learned how to stabilize operations, create structure, develop teams, and lead organizations with both strategy and soul. Those years shaped the foundation of the consulting work I do today.
Through Mariah & Co., I now provide consulting services for entrepreneurs, creatives, small businesses, and organizations seeking clarity, structure, and an elevated customer experience. I currently consult with Premier Child Care Centers, leading operational projects in compliance, workflow refinement, system development, and organizational culture—strengthening my credibility in business transformation.
My creative work grew alongside my operations work.
I built Soul Full, a creative wellness café and bookstore in Chicago, from the ground up. What began as a quiet space for coffee and community evolved into a lifestyle brand offering subscription boxes, journaling workshops, and pop-up events. A new, reimagined version of Soul Full is now underway—one that blends creativity, community, and intentional experience design.
Inside Soul Full’s walls, I discovered the power of space. That’s where The Mariah Touch was born—my signature approach to design, events, and spatial storytelling. Today, I style intimate dinners, curate brand experiences, design hospitality suites, and craft events that feel personal, intentional, and unforgettable.
And through it all… I’ve written.
My debut novel, Some Women Prefer Hell, became a movement—sparking conversations, book clubs, and speaking engagements across the country. The upcoming re-release and sequel reflect a more mature writer with deeper insight, sharper storytelling, and a new perspective on survival, womanhood, and growth.
I also share my personal reflections and the behind-the-scenes of my becoming on my blog, Mind Over Modi—exploring discipline, faith, reinvention, and the quiet work of rebuilding.
Across every part of my work—consulting, design, writing, and experience creation—my mission is the same:
to make space, on the page and in the room, for truth, beauty, and becoming.
